Each year, over 8,000 hospitality designers, architects, purchasing executives, developers, owners and operators gather at the epicenter of hospitality, Boutique Design New York (BDNY). The 2-day trade show showcases the best in hospitality design each year at the Javits Center in the Big Apple.
The Best of BDNY Product Design Awards recognize designers and manufacturers of products introduced to the hospitality design market in the past year that demonstrate functional and aesthetic progress and, above all, innovation in their respective category. Winners in 10 product categories are selected by a jury of design professionals; trade fair attendees vote on-site to determine the Best in Show Award winner.
Artone’s SANO Collection (Sano, meaning “whole” in Italian) was designed by John Brandon of Aerie Design Services from Attica, NY. The custom furniture collection was designed to focused on helping travelers optimize their mental and physical wellbeing. The collection, in total, features five pieces. The Product Design Award was given to Artone for the unique closet unit (Whole Threads). Some key features of this unit are a pull-forward mirrored door, built-in ironing board with iron, and lighting that automatically turns on as the unit is opened. The overall design of the collection lends itself to the open, airy direction being featured in many upcoming hotel designs.
This Product Design Award-winning unit is an ergonomically designed, stand-up workspace that embraces the multifunctionality hotel guests demand in today’s fast-paced, digital world. It includes USB docking ports, a convenient pull-out shelf for luggage storage, a lockable drawer safe with an additional USB port, and an LED base for a night guide.
